Living with Ankylosing Spondylitis is an journey in self. A journey of patience for the person as well as his family. Its a humbling experience, which makes you realise the worth of life.
At times when nothing works, there are some beliefs that can do wonders. I had been toying with the idea of going on "NSD" from some years. I did it in half, did not have the patience to see it through it for longer time. I learnt its getting to a combination that works for you, and it need not be the same for all. It was a journey of finding out the diet.
I can now confirm it does work, and is based on sound science, for that you can find a lot of literature. I have been pain free for almost a good time, a six months time. Its been good to be free of pain.
The few things i did, started the with the 5 day, apple juice diet. This is a sort of reset mechanism. I followed it up with a controlled, diet, and mainly have been avoiding the milk products fully. I have also reintroduced rice back into my diet, and have not felt worse for it. The only thing I have found out that effects me is the milk products and I continue to avoid it. The one thing I learnt, Don’t ever have the trigger on an empty stomach, it can trigger the pain in the duration from some hours to a day.
Despite being in remission, the life remains changed, nothing goes back to the normal state. The usual precautions, the no exertions, avoidance of the know triggers, its a life of patience albeit a better life. Its a closed club of people who do understand this, and I hope this note of mine does act as an inspiration to take on and achieve the success in their fight.
