The virtual interview

After a long gap, back to the café. Though the gap wasn’t that long, the things had changed. The backdrop changed, the chairs changed, and so did the staff. I felt like a virtual stranger in what once used to be my haunt.
I mused, times of change, the winds of change, the season of change, like the unseasonal rains, the change are also unseasonal. A bit unsettling, creepy feeling, that i might be left out of the change.
Whatever, I ordered my cup, looked around for a place to sit, found one, sat with the cup in my hand, searching for my bearings.
My heart skipped a few beats, my eyes surprised, my brain into a swirl, as i saw you enter. The same smile, the same look, but there was a change, subtle enough but visible to the sharp eye, my mind trying to decipher what that change was. Ah it said, its been nearly 20 years, a long time, a long gap, by any standards. 20 long years, to see you walking towards me.
You: I knew I would find you here, you blog too much about this place.
Me: Am glad to see you.
You: Its been a great effort to walk these last few steps, for a while i just wanted to run away.
Me: I understand.
You: The ever understanding you, you don’t change. do you?
Me: I do, lots of grey hairs, lots of grey cells, more matured now.
You: (Laugh) Mature and you? Impossible. Just look at your face, its glowing with all the kiddish feelings.
Me: Ah, your effect, you do blow away my years just like that.
You: As usual slick and perfect with your words.
Me: Wish I was so always, with time I learnt, If i had this talent long back, things would have been different.
You: Still the dreamer, far off from reality
Me: Always positive.
You: Still love me?
Me: Do i need to say?
You: yeah, women like to hear.
Me: Always did, always will, always shall.
You: You don’t give up?
Me: Love dosent let me give up.
You: Then why did I say no.
Me: Because I failed,
You: You failed?
Me: Ya,

I hear a voice, any more coffee? I looked around with mist in my eyes, the boy in his impeccable dress, asking me.
I looked around to ask you, but ..
I asked the boy, when did the she leave?
He: who?
Me: The one sitting here
He: Sir, are you joking
Me: Sorry ....
I smile at him, looks like age is catching up with me, as is the time, 20 years isn’t a long time after all for some.
